Porcelain Veneers

Movie stars generally have fantastic teeth. They go out of their way to make sure their smile is perfect. Actors and actresses have been turning to dentists for a better-looking smile ever since movies began production.

Although dental technology was not very advanced when the movie industry began filming, dentists were being asked to make the actor's teeth look better. Veneers were produced and glued into place. Veneers are a tooth-colored shell of dental material that are bonded to the front of teeth to cover a multitude of problems (chips, stains, misshaped teeth, etc.).

At that time, the dental glue available was not very strong, so the veneers would only stay on the teeth for a few days and had to be replaced until filming was done. Advances in dental adhesives since then have made it possible to glue veneers on more permanently.

Veneers are now made of either composite resin or porcelain. Both have excellent color-match capabilities. Porcelain veneers are strong and last a long time as well as resist stains well. Composite resin veneers are more economical and can usually be applied in just one office visit.
